Report: EU unlikely to decide on more Russia sanctions Thu–Fri
MOSCOW, Oct 19 (PRIME) -- A scale-up of the European sanctions against Russia over the events in Syria is possible but not expected at the next E.U. summit on Thursday–Friday, Reuters reported on Wednesday citing a high-ranking German official.
On October 15, Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung reported that Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel plans to suggest that the E.U. toughen anti-Russian sanctions. But E.U. foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said earlier in October that not a single E.U. country had offered new sanctions against Russia due to the situation in Syria.
